I often hear people say: “I don't like tofu, it has no taste, it's disgusting, I've tried everything but's not for me«.

I even heard it again just last week when I was at a restaurant enjoying my delicious tofu with satay sauce and my table neighbors thought it was a good idea to comment on my dish and to say how disgusting they found it...

Given the number of possible recipes with tofu, I deeply doubt that these people have tried everything (or even that they have tried at all).

Because there are a lot of preconceptions about tofu, between the fact that it is bad for your health and that it is tasteless...

Yes, just that, the meat lobby has worked well...

But that inspired me to write this article where I'm going to talk to you abouthow to cook tofuto finally love him.

Before seeing which recipes will enhance tofu and give it all its flavor, we will already seehow to choose the right tofuto get off to a good start.

It's like everything, if you don't have the right products, you can't appreciate it at its true value.

How to choose the right tofu?

So for the bravest, the best tofu is the one you make yourself (unless you find a restaurant that makes its own tofu). For others, you can buy your tofua magazine bio. So yes I'm sorry, you really have to go to an organic store because the vacuum packed tofu, super compact from the supermarket or those from the Asian market which are often too soft, are really not great at the moment...

In organic stores you will find several different brands: Taifun, Soy, Tossolia, Sojami, Naturalia and probably others.

You will also find firm, silken, lacto-fermented, plain or flavored tofu.

Personally, I prefer Taifun brand tofu, whether firm, silken or flavored (especially smoked tofu, black forest, rosso and basil). And I have become very fussy, if there isn't one, I sometimes buy the one from Naturalia which is also very good, but otherwise I prefer not to take it.

And if you want to consume tofu 100% made in France, in this case you must opt ​​for the Tossolia or Naturalia brand.

Plus, don’t worry, it’s really not expensive, Taifun’s 400g natural firm tofu, for example, costs around €2 (depending on the store).

3 Snacked Tofu recipes

Every person must have their favorite tofu recipe. I admit that the way I cook it most often is simply snacked tofu.

The idea is to cut pieces of tofu, marinate them for a few minutes (or not) in tamari, agave syrup, powdered ginger then brown them in oil (olive, sesame …) and at the end I add the marinade and blond or black sesame seeds.

That's the basis. And it can accompany lots of different dishes! Bowls, pasta, Asian dishes, rice…

I invite you to really try tofu this way because it’s completely different.

Ingredients for around ten croquettes

  • 325 g firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp. teaspoon seed dill
  • 2 sheets of nori
  • 4 tbsp. tablespoon of tamari
  • the juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 C. teaspoon garlic powder
  • 30 g of breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp. tablespoon of chickpea flour
  • 5 berries
  • Sel
  • Olive oil

Preparing sea croquettes

  1. Mix the 325 g of tofu, the nori sheets, the tamari, the lemon juice and the garlic until you obtain a hom*ogeneous mixture.
  2. In a soup plate mix 2 tbsp. of chickpea flour with 2 tbsp. tablespoon of water
  3. In another plate, put the breadcrumbs
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer
  5. Form the balls with your hands, dip them once in the chickpea + water mixture, then in the breadcrumbs and fry them evenly on all sides.
  6. Remove them from the heat and place them on absorbent paper.
  7. Enjoy as an aperitif with a little sauce of your choice
